Europe for VET+ 2! Meeting in Bologna
This "Europe for VET+ 2" meeting took place in Bologna from the 18th to the 21st of January 2022. Representatives from Asociación Mundus, Sun Dreams Global, Lotnicze Zakłady Naukowe and Zespól Szkól Technicznych w Klodzku were hosted by IFOM and took part to the project.
The focus of this meeting was, again, the students' mentor, who is the company employee responsible to teach and follow the students during the internship.
We discussed about the training that the mentor should receive before hosting the students in order to be prepared to work with them in the most proficient way and to make the experience satisfying for everyone involved.
We ended up agreeing that the training for the mentor should focus on the following topics:
- Knowledge of the vocational mobility project
- Role of each party involved in the project
- Problem and emergency solving
- Mentor's responsibilities
- Skills needed to interact with the students (communication tools, social skills, teaching and pedagogical skills)
- How to control and organize the students' work
Plus, we visited three companies which have been IFOM's partner for a very long time: Ristorante Randagio, a restaurant where students work as waiters and assistant cooks; MCM di Bottura Italo, a company specialized in the production of any kind of fishing items and tools; Hotel San Donato, where the students are employed either as receptionists, waiters or to clean and prepare the rooms for the guests. It was also very useful to have the meeting with Domenico Consoli, teacher from Istituto Istruzione Superiore I.P.C. Manfredi I.T.C. Tanari Bologna that showed us experience of his school in the mobilities.
These visits were important to discuss with the mentors and to listen to their feedbacks on the project and on their past experiences with the students. The information we gathered will be extremely valuable and useful to define and complete the mentors' training we are currently working on.
