What is TURBO?

The project is aimed at students and recent graduates from the Tourism course who can benefit from an internship experience abroad to experience the European labour market, live in another country, improve their job search skills and improve their language skills.

Aim of  the project

Fostering students' personal growth by comparing and broadening their cultural, social and human horizons.

To broaden knowledge of the world of work so that it is diversified and transnational.

Bridging the skill-mismatch between the skills provided by education and those required by the labour market.

To provide students with European awareness and internationalisation education.

It was promoted by a diverse and complementary consortium:
  • ITCS Rosa Luxemburg,
  • IFOM Soc. Sociale,
  • Institute Elsa Morante,
  • IISS Meucci, IIS Manfredi - Tanari and the
  • CNA Bologna, as a trade association representing the SMEs of Emilia-Romagna,
  • Emilia-Romagna Region, through the Europe Direct desk.

Local impact

Timeframe
The impact of the mobilities positively influenced not only the trainees' work skills, but also their cultural, social and language skills. Furthermore, this project allowed the consortium to develop a collective awareness of the practice of undertaking placements abroad, involving, among others, local and international companies, civil society, policy makers and public authorities. Another important aspect to consider is that the project took place in a particular historical period such as the post-pandemic period. This made the students active players in the new tourism market, bringing significant added value to local businesses in a context of recovery.
The mobilities involved 81 students and 23 recent graduates. ​Traineeships took place in Portugal, the Canary Islands and Malta.
